I don’t know about you guys but I find Smashingmagazine.com to be a great resource for inspiration. It’s great to “discover” new sites and designs you might not ever come across if it weren’t for their great posts. Below is one site I found as a result of my serendipitous saunter at Smashingmagazine earlier today - Rockatee.com

Rockatee Design is the portfolio and design blog of a 32 year old german, female graphic designer who is clearly passionate about design and most things to do with an artistic swagger.

Rockatee’s Features

First of all, great name. Memorable, and for anyone like me who forgets the dvd they watched 2 nights before, a good name is important. I gather Rockatee doesn’t have much time for blogging due to the bi-monthly blog posts but they seem helpful and her readers appear grateful. As a matter of fact, check out the free wordpress theme she’s so kindly offered to the wordpress lover community Thanks!

Also, she sounds well versed in creating web standards compliant CSS hand-coded sites including illustration and brand identity. A solid service package if you ask me.

Rockatee’s Site Design

Design is always subjective but I like the look of Rockatee. Subtle, pastel colours, light use of font as background textures keep your eyes focused on where they should go. Rockatee’s design portfolio includes fun don’t-take-me-serious layouts as well as corporate where’s-my-coffee formality.
